Praha... finally!!!!

I am finally in Prague and settled in my dorm room. The past four days have been a whirlwind of excitement, emotion, friend making, sightseeing and jet lag, but I would not trade the fun I had in London and Munich for anything. Not even a full day of sleep.

London is an amazing place. It's unparalleled historical and cultural sites, beautiful architecture and great people combine magically to from a city with the pace of New York, the style of LA and the friendly charm of the South with cuter accents. Despite only having two days in the city, I was able to get in most of the big attractions including the London Tower, Saint Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben, Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, the Theatre and the British Museum. AIFS, my study abroad program, organized a guided tour that took US around the entire city. I loved it all. My only wish is to return again soon to further explore these places.

Munich was another story. Most of the city was destroyed in WW2 so many of the building have been re built to look like their former selves. There were some pretty squares and the outer boroughs have modern corporate sky scrapers a la BMW, Mercedes and O2. Since we were only here for less than a day I didn’t get to see much.

Today we set off for Prague. It was a six hour bus ride. We stopped a little over midway through at a little Czech town called Pilsen, known for its brewery. This was my first experience with Czech cuisine as well. Yuck. I’ll give it a second chance, but heavy pork, game and “bohemian potatoes” are (so far) not really my thing.

So now I’m sitting in my dorm and it sort of feels like home. I have a single and share a suite with 3 other girls. The room is small, but manageable. After Yates, my freshman dorm, anything is doable. Believe it or not it’s a step up from there. I’m living in a nice residential area with a few shops and restaurants, easy access to the tram and great views of Prague Castle. I can’t wait to explore tomorrow.

We are going out to check out our neighborhood in a little… ill post more soon!
